Foxx was particularly pleased that he wouldn't be blue this time. Jamie Foxx and Willem Dafoe were very excited to play their respective villains again.To make up for the fact that his character was now bald, Simmons insisted on keeping Jameson's cigar and mustache for this film, wanting to carry over some aspects of his portrayal in Sam Raimi's trilogy to the MCU.

When Marvel approached him to reprise his role in Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019) and this film, he jumped at the chance.
